CAPTAIN BEEFHEART

I like this particular Captain Beefheart album called "Safe as Milk." He's got some other albums I don't enjoy so much but this one is great.

  1. How did I know you'd be a fan of the Captain, Keith? :)
While I'm a huge fan of melody and harmony and connsonance in music I love CB. Yeah, I like Zappa a lot better, but I'm the only one of my friends that ever played Trout Mask Replica through more than once - - heck, I've experienced its weirdness dozens of times. Keith, you've got good taste!

  3. Thanks R/E and Brad! I had high hopes when i picked up Trout Mask Replica but I couldn't get through it. (And I pride myself of my pain threshold for weird stuff like that.)

  4. As Mike Myers (CAT, in Cat in the Hat) said: "awwwwk-waad" Well, I don't care Keith whether you're a TROUT MASK guy or not... you still have fantastic musical taste and Talent.

  5. Haha!!! It was about 15 years ago. I'll give it another try on your recommendation, sir. Maybe my tasted have changed. At the time I read it was the greatest recording ever produced so I was expecting it to be better than all my favorite albums.

  6. I LOVE Captain Beefheart!

This cd features Ry Cooder I believe. He was in the band for a while but left because of the "weirdness" I think. He eventually found other things to keep him busy.

Cooder is one of my all time fave guitarists.

  7. I like Ry Cooder a lot too. I didn't realize that was him, but now that you say it I guess it does sound like his work.
