BELATED ANNIVERSARY

Mei and I had our 3rd anniversary back on 11/11. I am just now finding these pictures on the camera. We (she) started a tradition where I hoist her into the air for a photo each anniversary. I did it the 1st year, forgot the 2nd year, and remembered again this year. I hope this isn't a tradition I will dread in the future. She's tiny so that's not the problem. I am getting old and out of shape.

She got a new gigantic purse, and I got those shoes.

  6. KW: Happy anniversary. My best to to you both. Cool boots.

My advice: somehow weasel out of the picking-her-up tradition now before time and nature force your hand in a humiliating way. Imagine yourself groaning and dropping your beloved onto the carpet, where she will stare up at you with unbelieving and disappointed eyes tinged with an embarrassing pity. Not a pretty picture, is it?

Your best move? Try this conversation on for size: "Honey, here in Indiana, that picking up thing is a five year tradition! We change traditions every five years. Yeah, didn't you know? The next five years, we share “anniversary cookies.” Sure, Oreos will be fine. Welp, let’s get started. I love tradition!" -- Mykal
